What if i want to join the military....but.....?

So i been out of High School for a little over a year, i shouldn't have done the year break thing because my motivation is low now that its been a year already since graduation but I do want to join the military preferably the Air Force, so heres my question, what if i want to join but i dont know what to do? I already spoke to a marine and army recruiter and they both said same thing i just need to figure out what i want to do, can i just wait until after my ASVAB results and look?
