Can UDP Floods cause permanent harm to a router?

I was wondering because I was recently affect by a UDP Flooder to the point where online games would disconnect. Right now, I am wondering if there was any permanent damage done to my router because the internet connection for the entire house has been extremely slow since then. (Even though the Flooding has stopped)
